    I have always enjoyed teaching others about performance quarter horses and the unique relationship between a horse and a rider.  My vocation has always been my avocation, i.e., I don't just work with horses, they are and have always been my hobby and I enjoy sharing my experiences and expertise with others.  Most often, I am the one who ends up learning a lesson or two. 

  In the past two decades as owners, trainers, and breeders we have seen a vast improvement in pedigrees and the performance of our horses.  Events have become more competitive and so have we.  Understanding the need many have for refining and advancing their skills, I have endeavored to  fill that niche by drawing on my years of experience and have carefully designed courses and will individually design others which I believe will be beneficial to intermediate to advanced riders and trainers both nationally and internationally.

 
   If you find yourself frustrated with your horse's performance, would like to improve your training and/or showmanship skills,  or would like to learn the methods and techniques needed to advance to a higher level you can now take advantage of individually designed courses that will help get you to the next level and beyond. 

   Are you a Trainer or Non-Pro who needs additional insight or an objective evaluation of your current methods and skills?  Maybe you're tired of training horses only to find that your style and/or techniques do not produce the best performance of every horse.   If a horse is not performing to my expectations I look first to myself as the trainer.  My success over the years has taught me that in order to truly capitalize on a horse's potential the horse must be trained as a individual; not necessarily to the specific style of the trainer. Further, unless I trained the horse, the time to make major changes in training is not usually before an event but after, when a careful evaluation can be made and effective adjustments made gradually.  Participants of my courses will be riding one horse after another on a daily basis and will be encouraged to ride their own horse(s) to better understand these concepts and proven methods.

  Again, my advanced instructional courses on training and showing will be custom designed to specifically meet the needs of each and every participant.  You will have my one-on-one attention and devotion throughout the course and will be encouraged to ask an abundance of questions. 

  These "one-of-a- kind" courses are exclusive and like no other clinic or workshop ever offered.  They are specifically geared toward intermediate to advanced riders, trainers, and non-pros. The  cost of the courses are based on a fee of $500.00 per day (per person) which includes the use of cattle, a mechanical cow, stalls, a catered lunch, and a variety of horses ranging from      2 year olds to seasoned show horses; all are owned by Joe Heim Quarter Horses, Inc. and trained by me and which will be provided for your use. Participants are encouraged to bring their own horse(s) as well.  Unlike most clinics you will not just be taught ..........you will ride.......you will experience what I can teach you from your very own saddle. Participants can schedule private, individual lessons or learn semi-privately in groups of 2-4.  Schedule a 1-3 day course or more as needed subject to your goals and availability.  Remember:  your course will be individually designed based on your needs.  There are no pre-set agendas, schedules, formats, categories, or groups in which you must "fit" to participate.

  I will  share little- known secrets and techniques in training and showing that have served me and others well over the years.  I am confident that after just one day you will see and feel results in the performance of your horses and your scores in the showpen.   I will discuss the various philosophies and fundamentals of training and showing as well as methods that are often forgotten or overlooked. 

  In my many years of training and showing performance quarter horses I have never known of any truly advanced courses such as these and am pleased to be able to offer them.  Many riders.trainers, and non-pros want assistance but are hesitant to seek it.  I enjoy conducting these courses which are designed to meet the needs of the discriminating trainer and rider.   Afterall, there are some secrets worth sharing!
