I enjoy doing clinics and teaching others about performance quarter horses and the unique relationship between a horse and a rider.  My vocation has always been my avocation, i.e., I don't just work with horses, they are and have always been my hobby and I enjoy sharing my experiences and expertise with others.  Most often, I am the one who ends up learning a lesson or two.

On one occasion when I flew into Great Falls, Montana to put on a cutting clinic, I was met at the airport by a woman who turned out to be more than just a resident of that area.

I have long been a fan of the famous artist Charles Russell  and knew  from several  books that  I  read that  he had cowboyed in his
early days in the Great Falls area. Charles Russell was inspired by and drew his art  work from his cowboy experiences. One of Russell's  more famous paintings is of a  cowboy  on a  bronc  that's bucking  around  the  breakfast  campfire  and is entitled, "Camp Cook's Trouble."  When I commented to the lady who had picked me up at the airport about Russell and how much I admired his various works, she smiled at me and then proceeded to tell me that the man riding the bucking horse in that painting was her grandfather.  This is just one example of how my travels and clinics have enriched my life and provided me with opportunities to learn about different cultures.  Over the years, I hope that I have been able to somehow enrich the lives of others as well through a blend of horsemanship and comradery.

I've conducted clinics in Australia, Europe, Canada, Brazil, Germany, and most of the United States, including Hawaii.  I am currently making plans to do more clinics in the near future.  It's been a pleasure to work with people form every walk of life and from such different cultural backgrounds.  On several occasions an interpreter has been necessary to conduct a clinic but that has never hampered either my ability to instruct or anyone's ability to learn about performance quarter horses.  Horsemanship, I've learned over the years, is an international language.
