Apprenticeship Courses and Programs
Numerous young men and woman have apprenticed with me over the years and have gone on to become prominent and successful horse trainers in their own right. Several of my former apprentices can currently be seen showing horses in the Finals at major NCHA and AQHA events but what I teach can be applied to horses of every breed and discipline and is not limited to cutting or reining horses. My years of experience training and instructing has provided me with numerous ways to openly communicate with apprentices to facilitate learning at every level. Breeding, training, and showing performance horses is hard work and while it's not for everyone, the rewards are indescribable. I share that philosophy and more with all who apprentice with me in hopes of being a positive influence on their lives.
My apprentice program has evolved over the years and is now known as the Joe Heim School of Professional Western Horsemanship, Training, & Management. I still train horses for the public as well as my own and I also instruct privately on a daily basis. Students learn from the saddle and ride a variety of horses while simultaneously gaining knowledge about the business end of running a successful training and breeding facility. Students have unique opportunities to learn "hands-on" in a professional environment that is also learning friendly. Enrollment provides aspiring trainers as well as those interested in advancing their skills or working in the horse industry with the opportunity to truly experience life on a working ranch and the daily operations of a professional horse training and breeding facility.
Enrollment is ongoing. Tuition inclues all inclusive accommodations (nicely furnished single person housing with utilities, cable TV, and Wireless Internet) plus stalls and care for up to two horses per student.
Courses are designed to provide students with affordable and unlimited opportunities to learn and achieve their goals. Some prior experience is required but potential students need not be advanced riders. Call (580) 276-5928 or email joeheimquarterhorses@yahoo.com for more information.
